Saturday, February 23, 2008 ; long awaited acquaintance

so how's MJC? everyone's been asking.and im sorry i cant answer cause i havent experienced enough.but sure thing.orientation's going to be fun(as yun qi keeps insisting).yesterday i went to visit TPJC and joined my PAE friends for orientation.and it was quite fun! though i reached late i still was in time for the show.the familes each presented their dance,skit,whatever they could do on the stage.namely they were Dionysus,Zeus,Aphrodite,Ares,Hercules,Hera (: followed by their mass dance which i just stood around and did nothing but everyone else was na-na-na ing around.after a while all the staff were dismissed and there was a mini concert held by TPJC J2 students.and it was quite hell-ish.everyone was jumping around like the mosh at Ozzfest and forming human chains,running around.i did my best to avoid any mess but in the end got hit by one long running chain of people.oww.very noisy lah.in the end,i caught up with isabella and daryl,talked to them and bid our goodbyes.

since someone complained that i did not paragraph my entries last time.here's one.take that you stranger! come monday i'll be meeting my OG and my CG(they're the same) and it'll be time to make new acquaintances again.hope we really can bond together given my roughly apathetic attitude.

tuition has started.as always.we know how zealous daniel is.but he's very nice too to have prepared notes for us.so in my class we have the usual suspects.me jeff rachel yun qi joane yi zhuang vivian and claudia who is new.ha.hope we're ready for JC curriculum and for me to speak up more (:

ive nothing to do.therefore i am here.however i cant take my eyes of that pile of homework thats sitted itself so very comfortably on the table with the fan revolving above it.what lies im spinning.yes its the time when i think that my blog has an inadequate amount of posts,the FLC blog has already a 100 posts and i find it hard to believe.disclaimer : 80% of this post will be nonsense.okay ive said my piece.now i can start.
today is february 18,one more day to posting.and i cant help but wonder why till this time i havent figured out how to get to my selected JC's yet.such procrastination leads to disasters.just like how a snail can never run as fast as a dog.it dawns on me that updating album artwork on itunes is more important than my academic committments.how peculiar.
today during GP Ms.Ong gave us a little something to ponder upon.

people agree with it,disagree with it.many points.though i had my first proper valentines this year,its not as bad as it sounds.valentines is not only the day to celebrate with your special someone.but also to remember and appreciate the presence of friends around you(thats why i got so many gifts).however,must it be only this special day that you show your graciousness to these people? shouldn't this be exercised almost all year round? in our fast paced society,it sometimes forbids us to do it.time is our boon,and also our bane.thats why we have valentines to purposely make us remember those who care for us.
moving on,would spontaneity give the other party a surprise? not just sending flowers or greeting cards specially on Valentines,but instead a random date where he/she least expects it.such little things may reflect more on the love and care shown rather than the usual practice of it during valentines,but those who feel accustomed to receiving on valentines may be disgusted by this.
gift giving has evolved to a stage where how much you love someone is reflected by the monetary value of the particular gift.want to make your presence known? give her a diamond ring,or an expensive suit tailored for him,the more exorbitant something is,the more he/she thinks you love him.whatever happened to things when you made yourself,like a little scarf,or maybe even learning to whip up something nice,or stayed up late into the night just to finish writing that unique card meant for the other? have these things already lost their value? people often say its the thought that counts,so dont tell me the significance of precious gifts have obscured things previously so very personal and intimate.
as we think about gifts,we think about price.during this very special period of time.businesses jack up prices of their products in a bid to earn quick profits.a rose bought during normal days at maybe $2 a stalk can be fetched for $10 a piece during valentines.yet we are willing for fork out the money to buy whatever we want.cause it simply conveys our feelings and committment.i hope we havent lost focus on whats paramount.its the person.not the gifts.

Thursday, February 14, 2008 ; V-Day

so yes.its 14th Feb and everyone's getting hyped up about it.including me.its kinda weird.its the first time im doing something for valentines,in the history of my 4 years in VS,valentines was just like any other schooling day.with the exception of some interesting bits shared by our experienced teachers.
so yesterday i set off to buy 5 daisies,which i have inadvertently referred to on msn as ''pink sunflowers'' cause they looked like each other.but you never know i may have some optical disorder with my eyes.today i reached school and it looked like everyone was prepared to give gifts.eleanor[my canoeing buddy!] gave me my first one.ha i cant believe she did so many of it.it was a just a simple packet of sweets and chocolates wrapped in dotted paper and tied with a nice ribbon and a piece of paper inside.must have taken so much time (: thanks alot.
i set off giving out the flowers i bought the previous day.first one to isabella,the christian in my class who abhors any kind of profanity and things which she considers as ''sin'' so if you say the f-word or shit or whatever hokkien swear words she would cup her ears with her hands and reel back.2nd flower(daisies actually) was given to lim pon our friend from taiwan.she looked so lonely even in the company of her girlfriends cause she skipped school for SO LONG.i decided to give her one.next one was given to wai teng.who is supposedly yong liang's girlfriend.ha im not spreading any rumours here.one more given to weijian[our professional pool player] and the last one given to eleanor haha X)
BUT.we had P.E today.who wants to have P.E during v-day? just so not appropriate.after chem class,which i indubitably did badly for the VA test i did not study for,we all shared our stuffs.i had this big box of Van Houten's Assortment chocolates.everyone had a piece (: i got 2 bars of Kit-Kat,one bottle of bubble solution,a toothbrush,2 packets of goodies[they're not good really.they give you too much blood sugar] a purple chrysanthemum and thats all.then clarence tan put the chrysanthemum on his ear and he looked like a girl from Hawaii.we posed and took pictures with flowers on our ears =D
though i didnt get a date for today,[she had to go out with friends].it was my first wonderful Valentines' Day/Friendship Day with all the free hugs given by student coucillors.look forward to my next year (: blessings.
